(Dan Tri) – By the end of the first half of 2023, Mazda BT-50 is the only product in the pickup segment to record consumption growth compared to the same period last year.
Vietnam’s automobile market will face general difficulties in 2023, due to the impact of the economic recession, recording a sharp decrease in consumption compared to 2022. The pickup truck segment is no exception when most products are
According to statistics from the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA), Ford Ranger sold 6,015 vehicles in the first half of 2023, continuing to maintain its leading position in the segment despite a decrease of nearly 6.5% over the same period.

Experts explain that the Ford Ranger’s consumption only decreased slightly compared to the same period last year because it was upgraded to a new generation in August 2022 with many attractive equipment.
In June, some showrooms offered the highest-end Wildtrak version of Ranger with a discount of up to 70 million VND, bringing the actual selling price down to 909 million VND.
From July 1, Ford Ranger will receive a 50% reduction in registration fees according to the State’s `domestic` car support policy, helping Vietnamese customers save up to an additional 35 million VND (Photo: FVN).
The second position in the pickup segment in the first half of 2023 belongs to Mitsubishi Triton with total sales of 971 vehicles, down nearly 60% compared to the same period last year.
Triton is supported by Mitsubishi Vietnam with 50% registration fee in June for vehicles manufactured in 2023 (VIN 2023) and 100% registration fee for VIN 2022 vehicles, converted into a reduction of 19-55 million VND.

Toyota Hilux ranked last in the pickup truck segment in the first half of 2023, a sad but foreseeable result, according to experts.
Hilux used to be a best-selling product after Ranger in 2021, but temporarily discontinued business in 2022. By the end of March 2023, this model was distributed again by Toyota Vietnam but there was only 1 version, with the price
Although the price is high in the segment, the Hilux has unimpressive accompanying equipment, such as felt seats or mechanical air conditioning, which is inferior to the standard version of the Ranger.
This makes it difficult for Hilux to find customers, culminating in the past month when it became the worst-selling product in the entire market with sales of only 6 cars.
