Adventurous woman
Virginia Hall was born in 1906 in the US state of Maryland.
With her rich foreign language skills and passion for adventure, at that time, she hoped to work in a foreign affairs agency.
When World War II broke out, Mrs. Hall went to France and worked in the French Ambulance Service until the summer of 1940. Hall continued her journey through Spain, then went to England and volunteered
At SOE, she was trained in communication skills, security, resistance and even weapons skills.
A legendary spy
Mrs. Virginia Hall was awarded the Medal of Honor for her contributions to the Allied Forces during World War II.
Working for SOE, she was tasked with organizing spy networks to assist prisoners of war in escaping from prison, and recruiting French women and men to join the network to deal with the Gestapo – the network
This “one-legged lady” was quickly listed on the Gestapo’s most wanted list.
Due to an unfortunate misunderstanding by SOE, in March 1944, Ms. Hall decided to join the OSS and asked to be sent back to France.
