(Dan Tri) – ASEAN and international partners agree to increase extensive and diverse cooperation in many fields to promote market opening, trade liberalization, and ensure economic and trade smoothness.

Following the ASEAN Senior Officials (SOM) meetings on March 6, Ambassador Vu Ho, Acting Head of ASEAN SOM Vietnam, led the Vietnamese delegation to attend the 35th series of ASEAN-US Dialogue meetings,

The Conferences reviewed and agreed on the direction of cooperation between ASEAN and its Partners and reviewed the preparations for the Foreign Ministers’ and Summits between ASEAN and its Partners in 2023.

ASEAN countries request Partners to promote their potential and strengths, promote cooperation and effectively support ASEAN in building a community, contributing to peace, stability and common prosperity in the region.

Supporting ASEAN’s cooperation priorities this year, Partners also proposed many extensive and diverse cooperation measures.

Sharing about regional and international issues of common concern, the countries emphasized the complex, far-reaching and unpredictable changes in the geopolitical and geo-economic picture in the region that are posing great challenges.

Partners support ASEAN’s role and efforts recently in supporting Myanmar to find a feasible and sustainable solution to the current crisis through implementing the ASEAN Leaders’ 5-Point Consensus;

The Ambassador emphasized that the current complex and changing context requires countries to promote a culture of dialogue and cooperation, sharing common ground, equal cooperation, mutual benefit, and greater responsibility in dealing with people.

Regarding the East Sea, the Ambassador shared opinions at meetings, and reaffirmed ASEAN’s principled stance, emphasizing the importance of compliance with international law and UNCLOS 1982;

ASEAN 2023 Chairman Indonesia announced that it will host Foreign Ministers’ Meetings between ASEAN and its Partners in July and Summits between ASEAN and its Partners in September.
